Ciao! We are Steve and Linda, an American couple who opened The Beehive on 11 May 1999. Determined to follow a kooky dream, we packed up our apartment in Los Angeles and, along with our very large cat, Ingmar, and a Swiss army knife, moved to Rome to open The Beehive.

The Beehive is essentially an extension of ourselves. You'll find photographs of our children, handmade vegetable based soaps, a compost bin, organic olive oil and recycled toilet paper, but you won't find televisions, air-conditioning, pub crawls or inflated prices for things we believe should be free to our guests (such as internet access).

We pride ourselves on being a stylish, contemporary and ecologically minded budget hotel with impeccably kept facilities, knowledgeable, accommodating staff, and an artistic sense of modern design at an affordable price. We have a simple philosophy: noone should have to give up cash or ethics for comfort and style.
